Biography
A virtuoso violinist, composer, and educator, Baiju Bhatt embodies a vibrant fusion of his Indian roots and Swiss heritage. As the leader of the project Red Sun, he has established himself on the international stage with an open-minded approach to jazz and world music.
Following a rigorous classical education at the Lausanne Conservatory, he refined his jazz skills at the Lausanne University of Music (HEMU), graduating with an excellence award in 2014. Based in Paris, he engages in prestigious collaborations, ranging from Gypsy jazz to cross-cultural projects such as The Band Beyond Borders and ZAMAKAN. His latest album with Red Sun, People Of Tomorrow, has been highly acclaimed by critics, including Jazz News and Couleurs Jazz.
A passionate educator, he teaches at the Lausanne Conservatory and leads the Creative Strings Workshop – Europe, where he serves as artistic director. Voted "International Violinist of the Year" by Jazz Magazine in 2022, Baiju Bhatt is a pivotal figure who consistently pushes the boundaries of string improvisation.
