Biography
Aurélie Tropez began playing the clarinet at a very young age before earning a Gold Medal in classical saxophone, music theory, and chamber music at the National Conservatory of Nice. In parallel, her career as a clarinetist gravitated toward the world of jazz, where she has flourished by sharing the stage with legendary artists such as Rhoda Scott, Sanseverino, Jean-Luc Ponty, John Surman, Dan Barrett, Marc Laferrière, Maxim Saury, Claude Luter, Chris Barber, Ken Peplowski, Pierre Richard, Stan Laferrière, Evan Christopher, and Julie Saury.
Aurélie Tropez expresses herself through a highly personal style, blending New Orleans, Swing, Caribbean, and Choro influences. Her virtuosity, her brilliantly velvet tone, and her innate sense of swing—inspired by clarinet masters like Barney Bigard, Jimmie Noone, Jimmy Hamilton, Benny Goodman, Buddy DeFranco, Kenny Davern, Paulo Moura, and Paquito D'Rivera—have propelled her into the jazz elite. She performs on major national stages (Jazz à Vienne, Jazz in Marciac, Saint-Raphaël Festival, Jazz à Ramatuelle, National Stage of Bayonne, l'Olympia, le Palace, l'Alhambra, Salle Pleyel) as well as internationally in Germany, Switzerland, England, Scotland, the Netherlands, Hungary, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and China.
She performs both as a freelance artist and within various ensembles ranging from duos to Big Bands.
