Potato Head Jazz Band is a group specializing in Hot Jazz, Swing and Dixieland, and is comprised of six members from different countries: Spain, Australia and Argentina. It is currently considered to be one of the best bands of its type in Spain, and certainly the most internationally recognized.
The group formed in 2003 in Granada, Spain, with the aim of recreating the traditional jazz of the early twentieth century. With this common objective, 6 experiencedmusiciansbegan to create the particular style that characterizes Potato Head Jazz Band today; a style that holds in high regard the aesthetics and sound of the origins of jazz in New Orleans.
They have performed in some of the best jazz and swing festivals in Europe, being named "Most Entertaining Band"at the Birmingham International Jazz Festival in the UK. Theyhave also been the only band of this genre that has appeared in the Radio 3 Concerts on Spanish Television. The sound of the band is clearly influenced by the origins of its members, which helps provide the unique flavour andenergy on stage that characterizes the group.
Potato Head Jazz Band always present a well-prepared show; their clever combination of music, acting, instrumentation, vocals and good humor create an engaging spectacular that invites the audience to interact with energy and abandon. Banjo, Upright Bass, Drums, Clarinet, Saxophone and Trumpet come together to offer a unique event showcasing the painstaking work that goes into each of its aspects: the music, the staging, costumes and instruments.
The band is currently presenting their latest album "Like a Child", consisting of 12 songs and the first to include songs written by themselves, in addition to interesting arrangements and versions of some of the best-known traditional jazz.
